Why isn't this problem mentioned anywhere ? I would have thought quite a few people (between 2 and 100...) would have downloaded the last version of python with blender... When I first got into contact with Blender and Python last year I made the same mistake. But then I took another look at the fo...

I recently updated an existing script by Stephen Doughty, which is based on a script by Andrew Chadwick. I only did a quick and dirty job in adjusting it to the new API, nothing else is changed. The ASEs are saved to C:/ase I know it´s ugly but "it´s not mine", lol. # Steve's Blender v2.xx ASE Expor...

Use Python 2.2.3 instead.

To the moderators: we had this topic a couple of times. Maybe there should be a sticky in this forum, like "Python troubleshooting basics". :)

The method you´re thinking about is the common way to do it anyway. You might want to take a look at one of the numerous export scripts available. For example here´s an .obj exporter, which is a quite basic format and it probably won´t take you too long to see how it works: http://jmsoler.free.fr/ut...

Yep that´s what I´m doing...
but still I have encountered problems with the "guessing the name of the curve from its index number" method:

For now, I always thought that whole thing isn´t that bad because you could always tell artists/animators not to use size keys, ony loc or locrot keys. Because then you can rely on the order in which the curves are returned by ipo.getCurves(). That´s what I thought, but actually you cannot rely on a...

It was to hopefully have someone who knows how to program blender plug ins to help me. Yes, zaz is right, you should definitely learn the b...

I´m not sure if I understand your post correctly, because I´m not sure if you talk about animated locations of bones, or the "rest pose". AFAIK, the rest pose location of a bone (bone.loc) is relative to the parent, while the animated translations (coming from LocX, LocY, LocZ IPOs) are relative to ...

I´m having the same problem.
Gary, is there a workaround for Blender2.31? You provided me with some code that worked in 2.28 (a while back on elysiun.com), but it doesn´t work in 2.31 anymore...

Thanks,
Tom

blender2md5 exporter

Hi, since the forum description says "support for other engines", amongst other things, I guess this announcement is ok here. I made a script that exports to MD5, which is the format for animated characters used by the upcoming Doom3 engine (by iD Software). I anticipate that this engine will be wid...

I´m also interested in building an armature from python, for an import script. If there´s someone here who knows the "roadmap" for these API enhancements, please let us know. :)

You can tell OpenGL the facingness of your faces with glFrontFace(GL_CW) (clockwise specification of vertices) or glFrontFace(GL_CCW) (counterclockwise).
The culling of faces that face away from the viewer is controlled by this.

The getParent() method of a Bone doesn´t return the parent, but returns 0 if the bone has no parent, or 1 if it has, acting like the hasParent() method. (using 2.28c Win, Python 2.2.3) I couldn´t find it any of the other posts in this topic, sorry if it´s a repost. der_ton, desperately waiting for m...
