Why not instead work on incorporating this functionality into blender's current game engine? It already uses the blender models and animations, and has a blender-like interface. It only lacks the technical capabilities you propose. Most of the game engine users are not good coders, hence development...

Thanks Hos, I was unable to compile before, but with I downloaded a new cvs update last night and it worked!

I don't have ODE support, is this taken out on purpose? Not that it's that important, I don't need ODE to play around.

Be wary that force can break collisions as well if you make it too large.

Um, these aren't at all the same thing. ODE is a great open source physics library that includes rudimentary collision detection. It is designed to help projects put great physics into their games, preferably using their own, better, collision detection library. SOLID is a great soon-to-be collision...

But with the advent of the game engine, and with the advent of open sourcing, it is becoming an area where programmers can shine as well as artists. Games require a lot of programming, and being able to program good tools for artists is a good priority as well. The more avenues that people can help ...

Yeah, stuff like checking lots of polys etc is a bad idea for python. It's just not fast enough for things like that.

Some diagrams would be nice, I really wat to get some culling into the engine! I'll do as much as I can, which isn't much, when I get blender compiled.

I have trouble with any ati driver past 2.5

I think that after 2.5 they dont support the 7000 series as much because they want you to buy a newer card:)

Yeah, that sounds way too memory hungry to me. A good idea, but it's like copying your level 360 or more times over if I'm understanding you correctly. BSP's mostly deal with how things are laid out, and are a good way to organize the order faces are drawn and which faces are drawn. I've read some t...

I spent a little while the other day and I narrowed down the functions that add objects to the display lists. In gameengine/Ketsji/KX_Scene.cpp, there is a function called CalculateVisibleMeshes. This bascially goes through all the objects in the scene and adds their polygons to the display list, as...

When I load most of my old files and try to convert them to work with ODE, I get this internal error: "Bad argument(s) (c:\documents and settings\marten.DEMOTOSHIBA\My Documents\dev\blender\source\ode\ode\src\geom.cpp:1720)" I will keep testing around and see if I can narrow down what's causing it. ...
