sorry, but my build is still faster :) i checked the speed of your build with my test scene: your build: 141 seconds my build: 92 seconds scene was this: http://www.silentthunder.de/pics/throne1152x864.jpg machine was an old AMD athlon 1200 FSB 133 and this is my build: http://www.silentthunder.de/f...

AFAIK there's plenty of integer-based calculating going on in 3D-engines as well. What about physics, softbodies, particles, occlusion etc.? All done in ultra-precise floating-point-math? I didn't think so. hum... if you know so much about blender and rendering, why dont sign up to the developer te...

64 bit arch also increases the memory space, = more memory available the problem with "more memory" is, that: 1.the term 64bit has to refer to the address lines and not to the data lines. 2.the OS has to support it. for instance std windows like you and me use has a problem with managing more than ...

I don't really see why 64 bits should make any diffrence in rendering or speed The 64-bit allow for far more accurate math, something very useful in 3D-calculations (and graphics-calculation in general). This can be used to either improve the quality of the images or to speed up the rendering proce...

64bit architecture wont make that much of a difference because it refers to the INTEGER registers of a CPU. the really important thing for rendering is the FPU (Floating Point Unit), which is already 80bit internal and wont get upgraded. the really interesting thing for improving rendering speed are...

there's a lot of good things you wrote. actually i've already done a little bit of research on using aligned memory in blender. the problem is, that many structures have to be reorderred to fit into the required alignment. one good news is, that blender's memory management is using a centralized mod...

Antares mentioned he could possibly make his profiling files available but still no word. no word eh? http://www.silentthunder.de/files/projectfiles_bi.zip just decompress my projectfiles into the folder where you normal "projectfiles" is located. the zip archive includes any profiling files i've g...

The blender coders are also very busy right now, I think, so you have to get in line; and share time with the other platforms too. Don't give it up yet, you may already have your own sub-culture. And to get the idea into the official release we will need as much testing as we can get. the problem i...

doing those optimized builds would also require an official license of an intel compiler which is about 500€.

and thx to marty_d to set up this thread. it's my bad impression that, there are only very few people how actually use my build. that's why i won't do any further advertisement for it.

Re: which processor is best with Blender?

well guys.. talking about AMD vs Intel and not a single sod mentiones my intel compiler optimized version of blender? obviously nobody is interested in getting their rendering times cut down by 40-60%. which processors perform best with Blender? would an AMD Athlon 64 be better than a Pentium 4 and ...

Re: bf-blender v2.33a / intel compiler optimized (windows)

thats more than 250 faster than the std version ^^ Holy ! Nice job, Antares. Do you think that sort of performance would be similar throughout the entire code? On second thought, forget I brought that up. What a hellish project that would be to undertake. :) no ! defenitly not. while 250 sou...

thats because it isnt the latest CVS version. it is a build of the code available one day after blender 2.33a was relaeased.

Its a tricky one... Im new to this, but even from the benchmarks it dosent seem that GCC is THAT much worse then other compilers. well... my compilations always were the fastest so far :) as ton said (and he's right there): is about informing people and accelerate the progress in making blender fas...
