Ok, I've now tested your Mac os X version and have found some bugs quite similar to the test I performed on the windows version in the windows thread....but still...different bugs, the images speak for themselves. Image 1 = original render. Blender Foundation 2.32 official release. Image 2 = Rendere...

Okay. I've done some tests with this build, most succesful ones. BUT... Something has changed, and I don't know what it is. It seems to be effecting ray-depth in transparancy, just compare these before/after pictures. The first image is rendered with the release edition of BF 2.32 The second image i...

Hi there, The thing is....we all perceive "acceptable-speed" differently, I work with 3d on a "Pro-level" meaning that I must deliver stuff that brings food on the table, for that...I use both Blender and 3dstudio max (4). The Powerbook is technically a very STRONG computer and it's comparable to my...

it works with most 3d-games in Apple...and they all run OpenGL I don't see why it wouldnt work for Blender. But as it is now...blender is horribly slow with OpenGL. As slow as Blender would be with Microsoft's own Soft-OpenGL driver without hardware accelleration.... ...as a matter of fact & study.....

Yes ...that is sad :( But hopefully someone would fix it at some point :?: Layers is a temporary solution. And yes...I use layers for all my work weither it's 900.000 poly scene or 25 K scene. But...sometimes with sophisticated film work it's not unusual for the characters to hit 30 K for a single c...

mh basicly the code is the same. but i know that apples opengl sucks. trust me we dev for apple. can you send me an example file? claas Do you really need an example file? All you have to do is to clone a bunch of high-poly spheres and watch the information-bar at the top (top menu) and it will dis...

JoOngle as far as i know the opengl drivers from apple arent as good as on the pc side. that is a long known bottleneck. it is up to apple to get it clean and faster! claas While this could be true, it can't possibly justify a 80 % speed reduction. Example: Quake 3 & unreal tournament 2004 runs jus...

Hi there Money_YaY! Actually...Blender RENDERING itself...is quite fast on PowerPC (could it be optimized!??!) But I was refering to OpenGL (viewport) speeds. It's TERRIFYINGLY slow compared to 3d-videogames running on eg. my powerbook. But when it comes to actual rendering..it's only 10-20% slower ...

Blender 2.32 (BF) on Unix (Mac OS X 10.3.3)

Hi guys, I've just gotten myself a "snobby" Powerbook G4 17" with a Radeon 9600 mobility card built in. As those of you with mac probably already know...we need a opengl-compliant platform to make blender run smoothly. Mac OSX uses quartzextreeme (and I'm a newbie to mac!) My question is... WHY on E...

S68 - that would be really useful with an animation.. But - In my case it's a very "heavy" still image that I'm trying to get rendered with Yafray...unfortunately not even a 3 ghz P-4 with all the memory in the world managed to get this scene trough the first pass.... http://www.hamsterking.com/blen...

Thanks Leon, will do. I've gotten it to work now, looks awesome, but there are something weird and (to me) unexplainable and I hope you can shed some light on it... When I set up a simple "particle rain" from a cube...rains onto a plane set up as a deflector...it works fine, but when I try to increa...

Great stuff Leon,

Any "mini-tutorial" or at least some info on HOW to use (or find) the
deflectors / etc...?

I have no clue where to find it to test it...

Same here... I've been offered to use ALL of our office and user-computers at work (nighttime) with an FTP setup so I can render like crazy if I want to (weeee!) But doh...How do I multi-render with Blender? Network rendering? how? I'd LOVE to be able to do this via FTP or TelNet... It's like having...
