It's a tad bit early for that question don't you think? Only recently have Blender reached such a quality that professional work can be done on it (no offence to anyone! Rather a congratulation!) I am (in all modesty) a 3d-professional. I've made work that I got paid for, and I've been teaching 3d f...

Max is a fairly easy to use for advanced 3d work. I personally found some of its tools redundant. Blender's workflow is excellent. However it takes some time to get used to. If a new Blender feature is implemented we need to clearly have some brief form of documents that explain its use in detail. ...

Hi there friendly neighbour :) Thanks for the hot tip Ztonzy, I'll keep that in mind. But I'd still like to have a "playback/save/load/re-skin" function. I know that most problems can be solved by the "backdoor" solutions, unfortunately in an production situation that's not always useable. It's like...

@Macouno, No, I mean when building a Biped character (armatures) It should have a "play" function and "save moves" instead of just saving the entire scene. It should be possible to re-use an animation in another creature (very VERY important for an animator such as myself as I'm used to building up ...

@Ja-forreal Thanks for your kind words :) It's not so much Max beeing too complex, actually Max is very easy to use, and have a LOT of tools - but in my opinion it's somewhat more cumbersome to work with as you have to eg. click in each viewport to work with the objects, and many extra things that a...

Request: Chamfer vertex tool.

Use: To create extra loops out of a single / multiple vertex(vertices) and to add smoothness to corners where needed. Possible feature: Scroll wheel decides the size of the chamfering. A single vertice get's split into 4 vertices thus creating a new Quad surface. Many thanks in advance - and thanks ...

Request: Group naming/group tool

A feature that is truly useful when working with large objects or many of them is a "group" feature where it's possible to name a group and recall it later on. Furthermore a Drop-down window where it's possible to select between the different named groups would be extremely useful as well. Included ...

Blender & 3dstudio max workflow.

Hi there, I'm a 3dstudio max licensee (legal!) and have been so for many many years, however....I've been following the Blender society secretly in the background for years - and not-so-secretly pushing it to all my "students" and beginners to 3d in various forums, even made a forum in an official 3...

Hi again, again thanks for your valuable input. (it's always useful to have several views of the same things!) I know (your example with the tri's and the quads) but that is because the subdivisioning curve floats better (even - flow) when you use clean quads. That is exactly what I am trying to get...

I once read that paper (or another on the same topic) with the octree texture painting. It surely is an interesting concept, but the problem to me seems to be that, as far as I understand, you can only paint in 3d, not 2d. You can't use existing 2d paint applications and textures. So you would need...

While this might be true Apollux, the "safe" way to deal with this issue might be to save 3-5 "last-versions" of the currently edited-mesh "example: blenderfile4283-ver-1.blend" etc. each five minutes. 3dstudio max does this (saves 3 versions behind...such as a history-save" thus making sure that at...

I've just run severeal tests on it (with a stopwatch) and it's not a 100% speed increase (at least not on an AMD Toroughbreed 1500) The results where. 1) A scene with one simple object raytraced with reflection & transparency and 2 other simple primitives in 640 x 480, 2 lights, 1 spot. Rendered in ...
