These forums are more about developing the application then about how to use the program. Checkout blenderartists for how to use the program. It's hard to tell what problem your having from your description. It sounds like maybe your camera was inside your object? If so just move the camera. The oth...

I'd start with your fully topigraphical map, get that setup and insert a keyframe at say 1 minute into your animation (or whatever works best for how long you want it to raise up. Then work your way backwards say if you have 10 levels, divide the 1 minute into 10 sections and then use keyframes to d...

Why don't you just do this with key framing?

Make your animation render 72 frames and insert say 3 keyframes.
Start, end, midway

and your done...

You can use the h key to hide selected verts. Lots of times what people will
do is grab all the points on the back of the mesh and then hide them so they
can just work on the front.

alt-h will unhide them when your done.

Yep lots of people have done it.
If you goto blendernation and do a search for shapeways you can get a little
more info about them. There are other company's as well.

That seems to be one of the more popular for blender people.

Hi Monsieurouxx, There is no tool that I'm aware of. Other than the basics you mentioned and poking around the code there isn't much at this point. Your best bet is to try to do something and ask questions on the stuff you can't figure out. I personally have kind of shyed away from the pythonificati...

Depends, many people keep multiple versions of blender on their machine. An example is man y of the older scripts haven't been ported to the latest and greatest version so people keep the older 2.49 version of blender around. You probably want to wait at least a couple of days before dropping an old...

This isn't "blender" specific but http://www.gapminder.org/ has a really good way of doing plots. Probably what you would want to do is scale your data to values 0.0 - 10.0 or something similar, have a fixed camera and lighting and then if you get additional data, rescale things as they go If your d...

This is a good intro to getting around the source project. So I'll expand on it a little... First step lets try grep -I --exclude="*.svn*" -r splash * we get stuff in the following files: editors/include/ED_datafiles.h editors/interface/interface.c editors/datafiles/CMakeLists.txt editors/datafiles/...
