make a double of your model in subdivision, convert one of the subdivisions into mesh, use that mesh to unwrap and get your uv coordinates and make your texture, apply texture to subdivide mesh

the only way to avoid this would be to have the increments not in percentage of distance, but in actual distance units (or whatever you call it)

both methodes have theire advantages

Hey,

I second the idea

Maybe add the possibility of naming, saving and loading this grid configuration per scene/blend/etc .....

Heck, have a few presets from the start wich you can rename to whatever takes your fancy

I'm with you on this one GreyBeard. I tend to use the view edge length quite often, but is is anoying in a way that you have to scale two vertices to optain a certain distance. It would be much easier and preciser if you could take one vertex, view all the edge lenghts to its connected vertices and ...

it is good practice to name every object you create, but though I do my best, I do not always succeed in doing so... maybe I should try harder

What I mean to so, just because it is the smart thing to do doesn't mean everybody does it....

The widgets are excellent. My choice would be rt 0 for the rotating widget, its visually most attractive and fits as a theme with the move and scale ones rt 2 isn't bad either, but make the line thicker and non-shaded rt 3 is too confusing/busy I hate the fourth option for the rotating widget reason...

i'm sorry to say, but the proposed layouts are realy realy realy simple. I agree on the 3d view, perspective would be more kind for a new person, the present top view (without good indication for a newbie wich view he/she's in) is confusing. But the buttons window is a must in my point of view Just ...

Like how we got stuck with the crap that we have now, someone liked it and did not care to take any real design into it from others. somehow I don't think this is quite correct... Participation was asked in these forums for proposals concerning the outlook of blender some time ago. Besides, there's...

Nice lay-out so far for the materials feedback: -in the settings pannel, shouldn't it be 'receiveds' instead of recieves? -click and drag the ramps and mirror transp tab to move them doesn't work (yet) -Love the option to have the camera name visible, It'll give more info when editing animations wit...

the new gl texture speeds up international, but I do have to say it looks a bit blurry on my monitor (I have an Hercules 3dProphet 9600 Ati 256MB)

The normal international fonts are much better readable then the new textured ones
