I'd love to know who exactly is doing what with the source. It seems we have a lot of lone wolves chasing their own goals. A really nice linux C/C++ integrated developement environment I've been using for a while now is Anjuta:

Well worth a look if you don't like KDevelope. If your a Redhat 7.3 or above user you'll have to downgrade your version of gettext to get automake to work.
