Selamat datang, Mahbar, apa khabar? If you want to write up some text tutorials, why not do it on http://wikibooks.org ? Though they don’t seem to have a Bahasa Malaysia section, but there is a Bahasa Indonesia one—how do you feel about contributing to that? Here is a whole tutorial book for ...

Seamless image textures are easy, just use the “Make Seamless” filter in Gimp http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro/Image_Textures . I doubt there’s any real guide to 2.5 x yet, given how much of it is still in flux. If you want an intro to the new UI, you could start here http://en.w...

Yeah, I frequently notice problems with very long load times, and sometimes spates of “403 Forbidden” responses, as happened a few minutes ago. I, too, would like to know what the problem is. Does the hardware need upgrading? Is it running obsolete software? Or do they simply not have enough personp...

The GUI requires an X server. But you should be able to perform background operations (from the command line) without one.

What is the issue—is your field of view not wide enough?

Either move the camera back, or widen its field of view. The difference is, the latter will give you a greater perspective effect.

There doesn’t seem to be Collada import/export available in current builds of Blender 2.5x.

Did you do this in Blender 2.49? In 2.5 x , everything relevant is now under the Material context. Use the “+” button next to the list of material names to add new material slots to the selected object; choose a different material for each slot from the popup menu; and use the “Assign”, “Select” and...

Yeah, I just tried my 2.55 build from yesterday (SVN r33065), and I get the same as you: no error message, no nothing.

Basically, it didn’t work before, and it doesn’t work now. I guess you can report the lack of error message as a bug.

So your object is all one mesh object?

I think the usual way to handle this is to have each moving part be a separate mesh object. You can parent the control surfaces to the body of the plane; then they will automatically stay with it when it moves, on top of having their own local movement.

I think it’s best to think of a plane as being only an infinitely thin surface, not a physical object. If you want to create a flag with two sides, try starting with a cube mesh and making it very thin in one dimension (small, but not zero thickness). That will give you a physical object with two ac...

Most things are now accessible from the menus in the header as well, if you can’t remember hotkeys. :)

I think you mean the “Rip” operator (V) not “Split” (Y). The latter splits off faces; if you select only vertices or edges, it makes a copy of them. To create an object with 5 edges meeting at each vertex, I used an icosphere with subdivision level 1. In Blender 2.49b, when I select a vertex and pre...

Blender 2.5x Windowing System Intro

I have been adding some pages to the “Blender 3D: Noob to Pro” WikiBook with info about Blender 2.5x. In particular I did this page http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro/Blender_Windowing_System_New which gives a detailed description of the windowing system conventions. Let me know if...

Blender uses an extended version of Python for its scripting language. Ah, no. Blender uses absolutely standard Python for its scripting language. The only customization it does is the addition of custom modules only accessible while scripts run from within Blender. In particular, all the standard ...
