As I understand it, art you create with Blender is yours to license as you wish. Of course, if that art is derived from the work of others, you need to check what their licence conditions are.

Alt-D creates creates new objects sharing the same datablocks as the selected objects. To insert a new instance of a group, you press shift-A to bring up the insert menu, and you will see a “Group Instance” submenu listing your groups.

I would not bother rendering to MPEG—I would stick with a high-quality lossless format like PNG or better, and use a separate tool, like FFmpeg, to do the conversion to MPEG or whatever. This way, you can redo the conversion with different quality/size settings etc, without having to go through the ...

Sorry, I didn’t quite grasp that you had pointed out the error line.

Presumably the animation_data is None because the shape key has not been animated. Why not simply put in a check for this?
