can be. you can search the web for import scripts for many formats, and the supported ones are bundled with blender so you can find them in the menus.

The OSX color picker is just so nice because I already have my color lists from other stuff as well (and it's got the color pipet and several ways to choose colors) indeed. in that other idea of using OS data for things in the Blender UI, we could make the Blender colour picker show your OSX palett...

does it need multiprocessing or *gasp* multithreading the things you run to be able to share the load among the nodes in the cluster, or can it do something intelligent with a single-threaded app (i doubt, but you never know, and i did not look!)

no one has added anything about the modifier stack, apart from the basic handling of DerivedMeshes in Mesh, to the api, so there is currently no way. probably pretty easy to add at least the minimum of you need, a few lines of code - but a bit more to make a nice design and implementation for the mo...
