I think your feedback is valuable, certainly things worth considering. A response though to your comments, i don't think that means that we should settle for the sub-par UI that is standard for Blender. That is a bit of a strong claim - there are differences in the UI to some things you are used to,...

we have multiple binaries generated from the source, so I suspect that one is for blender and the other is for the standalone game engine. The arguments that can be passed are the command line arguments (in a console type blender --help or such). Often times either rendering commands, a script to ru...

12-13 is a fine age to learn blender, people much younger have learned it on their own.

Personally I would teach sculpting, then retopology, then mesh editing, then uv unwrapping, followed by texturing, then move on to rigging, and animating.

Why aren't you in an apple forum complaining? It is entirely apples fault that they have shipped leopard with broken opengl drivers. We have not ignored anything, we have confirmed that is something that is caused by apple and not by Blender, and so there is nothing that can be done by us. If you ar...

This is a user question and hence should be at blenderartists.org (this is our developer forum...).

You probably have a non mesh object selected also, deselect all, then reselect just the mesh then continue as above.

I'm almost certain that you can already manipulate it via python based on a posting I read in the recent past, but I've no personal knowledge of it.

All Blender code is required to be opengl 1.2 compatible. It doesn't matter whether the individual uses an integrated card, or the latest and greatest from NVIDIA if it is a buggy driver it is a buggy driver. On linux if someone files a bug that appears to be graphics card related, and it works fine...

Niels, I don't think you are understanding what I'm saying - Blender Foundation should not invest its resources compensating for someone elses bugs - there is already an established method for dealing with buggy drivers - turn down hardware acceleration and file a bug report with your driver creator...

Niels, bugs with graphic card drivers should be filed with the graphics card vendor, not with Blender. Why should we be expected to work around buggy drivers? Reduced hardware acceleration falls back on software implemented opengl which has a higher garuntee of being 'correct' - so if Blender works ...

Did you file a bug report? Doing so will greatly increase its odds of being fixed if it is a bug.
