One thing I'd like is people to right shorter posts and not long winded monologues. Martin Hey I agree on that! :? hey bfvietnam, I rarely read all your long posts, have you ever consider to cut them down? They are way to long to read to get a grasp of you really want to say. please keep it short ;...

as a reply to bfvietnams post: say you've got an object which consists of a 3d scene and the information on its interpretation. say you've created this scene with maya (for example) and you've got "soft bodies" in it, which are still not supported by blender. now if you want to edit it with blender...

Hmm open source?

This looks like a container format for interchange between media platforms.. It would probably be suitable to have support for that in blender, it would beat supporting every file format under the sun.. But with every proprietary standard for file formats and interfaces, there is some vendor-lockin ...

Re: Blender Web Plugin instead of Flash

The WebPlugin is not mature enough and only IE is supported now. The development was stoped many time ago. Hey isn't firefox in open source? BTW, Blender isn't nearly as exploited on the web as flash because it lacks the support and the advertising campaign, however it could be made to be rea...

Re: Blender versioning numbers...

So, why continuing to use a 2 digit versioning system? This generates confusion even in the Blender Manual, which is named "Blender 2.3 guide", but, with this system, 2.3 is different from 2.30 ... When it has all the features expected for 3.0, it will be called 3.0, otherwise it inches along becau...

Hmmm

I think what would be cool is if you could use DX9, Cg or GL2 shaders in video compositing applications, that would work more in blender's favor than Premiere.. Imagine the number of 2D effects that could be realized by reprocessing video with the 3D graphics card's shader kits.. Can you say "bye by...

Enjoy the wait before blender has even 50% of XSI's features.. Like the ability to add edges anywhere.. True N-gons.. Construction History, etc.. And enjoy the wait before XSI lets you create vertices and edges that are not part of a polygon. In my opinion that is comparable to Blender's lack of n-...

Another reason to get XSI..

The License Server, for Foundation, never bothers to contact the mother site.. The serial number that comes with the package must be used to obtain a license key from the mother site, but that license (supposedly) doesn't need to be renewed, its a permanent (possibly transferable) license.. Which is...

I think what bfvietnam means is that all serious artists uses more than one softwarepackage. XSI is certainly powerful, but of course it doesn't have everything. In the case you have a $$$ package Well XSI use cheaper than ever.. It used to be 2000 dollars for foundation, now its 500 dollars.. Even...

My age 35

Ton is younger in spirit but older than me.. He was doing abstract art in the 80s.. Yes Ton was a painter before he ever got involved in computer graphics.. I started on the Amiga.. Amiga 1000 then purchased 2000, dropped that and went for a 3000.. I started, using 3D packages, back with Sculpt 3D o...

For ease of use Blender is better than XSI..

Note, I'm going the XSI route.. I've determined from what little I've done, XSI has a lot of features.. But like Maya, its nearly impossible to use, as the GUI gets in the way.. Its also not very dynamic.. Like I wanted to change the animation bar so that I could view in multiples of 8 frames (popul...
