graphics card would no longer be rendering the interface I'm not sure that is true considering osx's rendering techniques. The standard interface seems heavily reliant on gfx card features (eg, expose) True but it's handled differently because you don't manually render to an OpenGL context. I'm sur...

Yeah, I compiled one of the 2.37 xcode projects fairly easily - be midful about some compiler settings like optimisation because they break the renderer. With certain settings, you can put it up to max optimisation and it works fine. I tried to get it to optimise with auto-vectorisation for G4/G5 us...

Why not use the xcode project that's in the CVS instead? After messing about with the project settings, I got a clean compile with a binary smaller than the release but the same performance.

Re: Feature Suggestion: Programmable Rendering

I realize this request sounds a little like rendeman shaders, but I think the appeal would be that there is less serious programming involved and no compiling required. Using Python would likely be harder than writing renderman shaders since the Renderman shading language already has built-in defin...

They should have given the runners up a deal whereby Apple bundles Blender etc. with their OS. That would help it on to world domination... well, a 3% market share anyway.

Lol, great first post hoek. I think this thread is more suited to the off-topic at Elysiun.com. Anway, I think the t-shirt sizes are bigger in America as with most things. They have to compensate for shortages in other areas ;). My cousins brought over some XL t-shirts and my mum wears it as a knee ...

Don't get me wrong, I mean, I don't even find music copying theft because I don't take anything away from you, your not missing out anything after I've copied it. (And don't give me the "But we miss millions of dollars because your not buying the record" crap because I was not going to buy the reco...

Thanks for the fast responses guys . Anyway, I managed to get it fixed by tracing the default_alloc_template call thanks to a suggestion from Duoas. I eventually discovered the problem in OpenAL. So, I got it to build using the OpenAL that is built into Tiger - it seems to work too because I c...

I might be doing my Maths wrong but he has a rating of 2374 and if most of his products are $10 then he has made over $20,000 in the past couple of years for no work other than burning programs onto CD. Whether it's legal or not, which it's fairly clear it isn't since he is misrepresenting products,...

I did my honours project using 3D laser surface scans. It was one of the expensive scanners in a hospital. It sampled about 65000 data points of the face. I didn't get to see it though, my supervsor had the models premade. My supervisor had also written software to raytrace the model which raytraced...

Link error under Tiger

I finally got my dev tools for Tiger and compilation has gone fine so far. I'm getting an error about linking though and it is the following: /usr/bin/ld: Undefined symbols: std::__default_alloc_template<true, 0>::deallocate(void*, unsigned long) std::__default_alloc_template<true, 0>::_S_free_list ...

I found a problem with the 2.37 release. No point in writing the same thing twice so here is the thread on it:

http://www.elysiun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=44953

Basically, the normals are flipping when you duplicate and mirror again. It was working ok in 2.36.

The developer tools allow you to build for PPC or Intel now. It comes down as a check box so apps should need no more than a recompile. They ported the huge Mathematica project (one of the biggest code bases in the world) in less than 2 hours - just a couple of tweaks required. I can even build Inte...

Seems ok apart from the manipulator icon still being in the wrong place for triangular faces. I guess it'll be the same for all versions though, not just the Mac version. That's a matter of center mode. If you want the real median of the triangle, use the Median center, not the boundbox center mode...
