This should be automatic. It's very awkward to tweak a mesh in edit mode when the texture maps disappear!

Could we also have highlighted uv's on the mesh as well please?

Ok after much head scratching I can now change the vertex size. I can't if I'm using the default scheme but if I create a new one and under the 'new user theme' I change the option box to '3d view' and the option box under that to 'vertex size' IMHO the layout of the preferences could be made much m...
