I always wonder: 1. why the doc on new features only exists on www.blender3d.org, and is not merged into the manual. I do not like the the doc on www.blender3d.org, for I have to click every pic thumbs to see more details. Maybe you consider it annoying, but think about it. No one is obliged to sho...

Since HEMEsh is new and still in dev it could be nice to support.. Multile UV coords per face (I know HEMesh has no UV support, but when It does, this would be very good, joe, even if you just code support for it, the UV Editor GUI can be updated later on) Soft selection- would be nice. nothin else...

Ok, the wiki page is out of date, so heres the email report I sent to bf-committers today. A short intro: HE Mesh is an implementation of a new 3D object type in Blender, that aims to support Wings3D-style modelling. It is meant to work in addition of, and not replace, the current mesh object type....

Wow I have always dreamed a thing like that!!! This would be a great improvement for Blender.
Do you think all this stuff is going to replace python scripting one day?
Hope all this stuff will bring Blender to have a clean way of developing new extensions in a "integrated" way...

I've been thinking about that a lot mjordan. Maya has some nice project books. They start with 0 and end with an animation short. This book is $150,= so I think I'll find 10 blender people to buy a book like that. In that price range I mean, so who's going to write that? The guide book I learned Ma...

As I see it, tuhopuu is for unstable/unproved features and experiementations. Various patches slips in there that aren't really unstable, just not approved for bf yet but some tuhopuu dev might think it's fun to play with an commit there. Tuhopuu has no garranty of stability so coders can go free f...

I think the Blender manual should be completely restructured. It spans for almost 800 pages and it is not complete at all. Many new features (well, old these days) are left unexplained (see particle damping and deflection, for example or taper curves). The major problem with it is sometimes it gives...

Re: New Interface and BF-Blender

Isn't it finished? No, it's not. What I don't understand of the Blender development cycle is why some features are worked on directly on BF-Blender and some others on Tuhopuu. For examples, new "Sine, Saw, Triangle" wavelets for marble textures have been committed without too much testing, while th...

New Interface and BF-Blender

What we are waiting? :D
Who knows when it will be committed to bf-blender sources?

Isn't it finished?

BTW, what about implementing some cool features from ZBrush 2 for organic modeling?
Modo is a great modeling app, ZBrush 2 is the ONLY organic modeler around. And it has very innovative features (starting from the interface, very smart IMHO).

eh /? It has no animation tools ,, it is a super charged modeling app Money_YaY it's a joke. A way of saying Modo has not animation tools. I agree with you that Modo is a great application. I think many things could be copied from it (currently some people say that Modo has copied something from Bl...

SConstruct in the root dir has only -O2 for C parameters and none for C++. This by default. warn flags for the linux platform in SConstruct : warn_flags = ['-Wall', '-W'] here is your culprit, i have supressed the -W since a long time on the platform i maintain Yes, I removed that parameter. Things...

First, with the default settings of warnings in GCC, you shouldn't have those warnings either with makefiles or Scons. After my commit, I'm down to 52 warnings on XCode with the followings parameters : for C files : -Wall -Wno-char-subscript -Wmissing-prototypes for C++ files : -Wall -Wno-char-subs...

The big warning hunt commit is done.
But the unused parameters are still there.

I don't think it's a matter of laziness. They constitute more than 60% of Blender warnings on a Linux machine with gcc 3.4.3.
So I'm really wondering what they used for. I cannot find a real motivation to this.

I'm guessing you are talking about the online documentation. Well not in particular... I'm talking about something to read in order to update my Blender knowledge without too much power consumption. But if a new Blender book will be ever released, this time I'll get a copy. Ahhh... I think th...
