.egg (Panda3d exporter) for Blender

Theres an .egg exporter for Blender here: http://www.fabiushouse.com/blenderegg/tutor-alfa.html I have searched the forum and found nothing about it so i posted this here. In case you are not familiar with Panda3D it is a game engine that was developed by Disney and later by the Carnegie Mellon Univ...

Sugestion: A clipboard scene

As we all know Blender doesn't have an edit menu with the usual undo, redo, cut, copy, paste, paste special, delete, search, replace, preferences. A clipboard (per view) would be great to be used among different views. So i had this idea of a clipboard scene. That is a scene that is automatically cr...

Learning how to animate

Im trying to learn animation with Blender. There are very good tutorials on the wiki but o still don't know the answer to one question. How many different ways there are to animate things in Blender and what is the best technique for games that have a clothing system? My idea of clothing system work...

I have an ati card, more precisely a 9600pro.

"blender locks up for increasing amounts of time after you do minor things like rotate the view?"

Rotating and scaling the view becomes more jerky and slow with time. Running the game engine clears the problem.

Is this the right thread to report bugs on the game engine? I had a small problem when displaying a textured mesh. Without a material assiged to the mesh the ge can display the texture that is assigned on uv mapping view. But if we add a material then we need to make sure it has a dummy texture link...

Game engine related bug

This isn't a bug with the game engine. When im modeling big scene for more than an hour, usualy adding and deleting lots of stuff Blender starts to respond slowly (don't know why). Running the game engine and the quiting brings Blender response speed back to normal. I supose there must be some memor...

Creating a normal map by comparing a decimated mesh with a non-decimated one. The possibility to cut a mesh with another mesh(es). Being able to "lock" a group of objects (Blender 2.41 RC3 grouping) on a certain reference object (inside the group) for transformation purposes. That is the group will ...

New decimater that preserves vertex data and sugestions.

Theres a new decimater script in RC3 and also a merge operation that preserves vertex data like uvs. This is great for creating LOD versions of meshes and to manualy decimate a mesh. Heres some sugestions for more related script ideas: A script that let us cut an object with another object (mothing ...

Finnaly object groups and small request

We finnaly have object groups in RC3 and with that people who use Blender to create game scenes (like me) cab finnaly build libraries of prefabs for their games. Thank you. The only single feature still missing is vertex normals. This is important for building models that are supposed to snap togeth...

The blender foundation has set some goals and non of them state to create the best (more intuitive & user-friendly) interface. It's to make 3dcg available to the widest possible audience. Thats the sole goal of usability. Changing interface settings is only a very small possible part of improvement...

There are no standards in the sense an application that everyone should copy or cookie-cutter (is this an english word?) rules for making guis. But there are some guidelines. For example schneiderman 8 golden rules are widely acepted. The rules are: 1. Coherency Blender is coherent with itself 2. Sh...

But sometimes you just have to do drastic changes. Remenber that Ton had to rewrite the entire animation system and throw away the effort the older developers have put in it. It just wasn't manageable any more. The gui code doesn't need a complete rewriting since there is already some new code in th...

My (tentative) idea would be to have the bpython project have EVERY GUI accessible function/property of Blender exposed and then insert a configurable layer between GHOST & the "Blender engine". The interface could then be stored in some set of data files with details on the GUI/menu layout, the Py...
