Where Can I Submit Feature Requests?
Posted: Tue Mar 13, 2007 4:30 pm
I know the wiki has a page for it, and I know there used to be a section in the tracker, and of course there is the funboard, but I'm now uncertain if there is some official place requests can be made. If there is, could someone point me to it? Or is the wiki (http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Requests
) the right place?

To say it blunt: The blender foundation does not need feature requests.
Therefore; There is no official position for placing feature requests.
Ofcourse developers are happy to hear comments on their work and what direction they can aim at in their development. This can be done in the wiki and in the tracker. The advantage of the wiki is that others can extent. And another advantage is that the wiki language is not easy so that gives a barrier so the poster is probably serious or at least showing effort to get his/her idea across.

the tracker is not to be used for feature requests. The wiki can be used for it.
To use the wiki, you need to register then follow the direction (ie email me your user name).

I did not know that, it's been a long time since I visited the project space...
Coming up with "new" ideas often ends in disappointment. Current developers are not as stupid as most idea generators seem to think (Not you etr9j).
Best is to hook up with a project that's already started and try to help out.
Wiki is very handy for that.
I'm also sorry to see the wiki is being used as a dot-project... Now the wiki is not so good in doing that.

Sad but true - looks like nobody interesting in it...

There are lots of "What do you want in the next version" threads over on blenderartists.org

Also don't forget the funboard mailing list

It just does not make much sense telling volunteers what you NEED at a developers forum. It's much better to tell what you are going to DO here at blender.org and leave the wishes at blenderartists.
