Yeah sorry about that. I don't have much experience posting in forums. I wasn't looking at dates and order of posts and just assumed that since the first post referred to 2.5 it must be recent.
After I posted that I started reading further and realized my mistake.

I just grabbed 2.57, and installed the latest beta from 3DConnexion for the Mac. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Bupkis. The reason SpaceNavigator is not supported in Blender 2.5x is because we have been busy refactoring the entire event handling system and the things it touches, like the UI. This is a huge job as you might infer from the length of time we have been working on it. As mentioned here, people have been working in parallel on SpaceNavigator support. When 2.5x is stable, which is about now, we will start adding new features like support for your favorite device again. Right now, the ball is in our court.
Has anyone else gotten this to work? I've not been able to use my SN since Photoshop CS4 for anything except Google Earth. It's a paperweight at this point, but I keep holding out hope, because when it works it's indispensable.
You will have to create a profile for Blender when using the new Beta driver.lightningsymphony wrote:I just grabbed 2.57, and installed the latest beta from 3DConnexion for the Mac. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Bupkis.
(see: YouTube video mentioned above)
Keep in mind, that the result will only be emulation of key-press/mouse-movements and not a true integrated solution.
I personally do not like it, and think it makes the situation worse... as in, users may be put off by the way it works. Comparatively, the plug-in in 2.49 was a dream.

That sounds like great news!

If your just looking to get used to the device. It works perfectly fine on the 2.49 series of blender. I even figured out how to make the plugin work on 64bit systems.Wolvenmoon wrote:I've been watching these threads on and off for a long while.
Glad to know that my 'new' input device I was given on Christmas will be working in time for me to start back into university next semester and not have time to learn it.
I know its not a spectacular solution, but I know the frustration of adjusting to a new input device.
I know I cant wait for it either.
