Blender for 64 bit Vista?

it said that the installer isnt available for 64 bit vista but i really need it for a couple videos im making. how can i get it or does anybody know when its will be availble for 64 bit vista?
can i still instal without the installer and only the zip archive?(i know stupid question)

Yes. The installer doesn't give any real added benefits other than that the .blend extensions gets registered. The zip is a fully functional Blender release.

I am using 64 bit XP professional, and when I unzip the file and try to use it I get several error messages. I am running it from my desktop, do I need to run it from another location?

Dell precision T5400
Xeon quad core E5420 2.5ghz x1
8GB Ram
NVIDIA Quadro FX570 256MB DDR2 x 2

You need to have the proper redistributables installed too - see more for more info the note about that in the 64bit windows download box on the download page.
