It's only a plugin to output from maya to renderman, and I think blender doesn't look anything like maya.
But maybe we can learn a few things from it.

this is not a renderer. this is something analogous to blenderman.

I've just downloaded the file on my iMac and uncompressed it, after having read about it in the same news on slashdot, and havng seen an OsX version.
One question: is blender able to save files inthe .rib format so that we can use it as a renderer or not.

Not at the moment, but there are export scripts available, but they can't convert everything.
