BLENDER OPTIMIZATION AND PC UPGRADE OPTIONS

Post by spiritech » Mon Feb 28, 2011 3:47 pm

hi,

i was wondering if it was possible to optimize my computer for the sole purpose of running blender. i have quite a hi spec pc.

ati hd 4890 vapourx- 1gb
asus m4a78t delux mb
amd quad core 3ghz
corsair 1600mhz 2x2gb ram

it handles blender well. however once too many objects build up on the screen it begins to slow down, or if i edit a complicated object with many verts.

i have noticed it never uses much more than 800mb of the 4gb of ram i have and it also never uses all of the cores, only one, sometimes two, at full capacity at any onetime. is there any way to get more out of my pc?

also if i were to upgrade my pc. what component would be best to upgrade - ram, cpu, or gpu?

any help on this matter would be appreciated.
live with the world as it is today and tomorrow the world is yours

Optimize for creation or for render.

For creation you want a big gfx card.
For render you want fast cpu and loads of memory.
