Fatal Error: Blender.org destroys topics

Post by Monkeyboi » Mon Nov 24, 2003 12:10 am

Thorwil and I discussed this on the website forum but nobody answered. Therefore I have made a post here to catch somebody. This is important.

It has happened to me a few times. Posts get broken, and cannot be answered to. My post on improving the interface further has also broken now. You could still reply, but it doesn't become visible unless you enter the post and set it to display all posts from previous year.

There should be a third page burt there isn't.

See for yourself here:

http://www.blender.org/modules.php?op=m ... 0&start=15

If you change the number in the end of the URL from 15 to 30, you get to page 3 of 2!

Now, however, you cannot add any posts to the topic. it says "Error: failed sending email". This is not good. This is a huge problem. Can anyone please tell me what is going on? It is very hard to discuss things if the forum keeps breaking topics.

If this is the case, then it should be fixed soon, because it appears as if more and more people are using this forum lately. I have never seen posts sink to the bottom of the pile quite so fast as they do since the release of 2.31. It would be a shame if all those thoughts and knowledge were lost.

I posted about this in the foundation and websites part of the forum.
Timothy wrote that he will look into this.

I had the "failed sending email" problem too. it appeared when I used Mozilla Firebird, but not when I used IE.....

Seems to happen with Konqueror too, I don't think it's a browser problem.

I find it comforting that Timothy is looking into it.

Good to hear it is being researched. I use IE and the same faults happen here.

It just happened to another post of mine. Page 3 of 2. It cannot be accesed, unless you know the exact URL. Here it is:
http://www.blender.org/modules.php?op=m ... 8&start=30

This is quite serious.

Good luck with bugfixing! Regards!

Hey, page 3 is working normally now! Somebody must have fixed it! Great! Is it fixed permanently?

This old post still won't show the third page (page 3 of 2):

http://www.blender.org/modules.php?op=m ... 0&start=30

Now my topic is suffering from the "new posts are not detected by the main page sickness"! Basicly it means nobody will check it because they won't be able to see the newest message unless they enter the topic.

Here is the topic. The last responded is currently me, Monkeyboi.

On the main page it still says NateTG and it has not moved to the top.

This is very frustrating.

It doesn't actually fix itself :)
I think I know what happens but just because I know how websites and databases work, I haven't been able to actually look into the code and find the actual problem (and fix it!!). This because my computer is broken (hopefully it will be fixed this week, so I can spend some time on blender.org during my xmas vacation)

Thanks for the answer. Have you got a working computer now? Anyway, there is page 4 of 3 error here now:

http://www.blender.org/modules.php?op=m ... 4708#14708

Have you looked into the code? Sorry, I don't mean to go about it, it's just... well... irritating!
