Don't really know if this is the place to ask, but anyway:
I cannot get AVI textures to work under linux. I've tried an ordinary (compressed) .avi-file, but then i get told "ERROR: Not an anim.". Next, I've tried to uncompress it with avirecompress, but eventhough my 7MB file is getting more than 100MB large, it is apparently still not an anim (according to blender).
What now?
Is it my decompression that fails? If so: How do I decompress correctly under linux?
If it is not the decompression: What can I do?
Thanks!
AVI-movie texture in Linux

The funny thing is, that I can use the blenders output AVI's as texture input just fine. The problem occurs when trying to use an external AVI.
I aggree, that either one of two solutions would be great:
1) Make blenders "movie-texture" more tolerent for different inputs. That is: Enhancing the build-in input filter. -Multiple free avi-/mpeg-libs are available out there, so it should only be a limited exercise. I guess. Maybe. Eh...
?
2) Make blender come with a bundle of tools that can convert a wider set of formats to a narrower set of "feasible" blender input.
I guess 1) is more preferable than 2).
Just some thoughts.
