can anyone tell me correctly the origin of the Blender logo. Who designed it, and what it represents?

it looks like a guy with his thumb and forefinger touching.

the three spikes are the other 3 fingers.

i have know idea about the rest.

AFAIK, it's a stylish eye with eyelashes. It used to be more visible with the old logo.

really? i could of sworn it was a wirlpool, like in a eletric blender... the arms are the ideas being sucked into the wirlpool... and becoming part of the whole

well... i guess it could be an eye too

think i've started something here... :D well i suppose all of your suggestions could be feasible. i may email Ton Roosendaal, if he doesn't know then guesses are all we have.

Symbol on TV!

I have seen a similar symbol (more like the old one) on tv. It was an Asian channel I think I will look for it and see if I can post it here. I think I was watching Dragon Ball hehe
