hi

i was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on a blender port to linux running on a PDA - would that be any more feasible?

If I have time I will try to do the port. The problem is that I do not have any idea of like doing it. Somebody can direct to me somehow?

Lord ZealoN, basically what you need to do is grab the latest cvs, install the prerequired libs for blender to work and then
try compiling blender. the INSTALL doc inside of the blender source steps you through it. If you have any questions feel free to email me and or just ask here.

If you haven't yet I would first get it compiling on a system that works currently... (windows/linux etc) so you know the
basics of what needs to be done.

I tried to have a look on Blender documentation and lot of libraries are needed to compile... Are these libraries available on PocketPC?? And I was wondering on Opengl for pocketpc. Maybe these links could help you :=)

I really hope that you will succed to offer us Blender on Pocketpc :=) Thank you!! I personnaly have no ideas how to compile a programm written in c++ and it to make it work for pocketpc... Do we have to go throw the whole code and change thinks specific for PPC?

That might be true. All I wanted to say is: I could imagine myself playing games on the PDA, but not modelling or texturing a 3D scene. The screen is just too small.

would be a shame to see this issue fade away again

maybe just a port of the blender player would be the way to go?

Well. my intention is see blender in my ipaq, but at the moment i don't have time.

But don't worry, when i had time i'll try it, but it's better if i have some help.

Try the malling list. if you really want to dive into the code. pp over the dev mailling list will help you with all you question i'm sure.

I think this would be a great program to have (if I had a pocketpc, which I will soon). Even a blender model viewer would be quite handy and fun. But at the same time, I am really impressed with the current speed of development on the blender scene. I'd hate to have to shift resources and slow that down.

blender can run on my 100mhz. I don't think PDA is less faster than that.

Hi,

I use the gpe familiar linux (http://familiar.handhelds.org/) on my iPAQ, In the moment I have not the time to try compiling blender on It but I know that blender already running under intimate. (http://intimate.handhelds.org/screens.html)

The Debian ARM project have packages for mesa and blender too, but my memory on the iPAQ is to low for Installing all the dependencies. :-(

so If you wont to try a port to familiar Linux you can use the open iPAQ Cluster http://www.handhelds.org/projects/devcluster.html

I think the main problem its compiling mesa in the right way. I am not sure but i read something that mesa require a floating point Unit.
