The only problem with this method is that he may have a legal right to the name Luxiorsity .inc and then whoever placed those auctions would be in violation of the law. Whether he himself is in violation of the law (with regards to the distribution of the programs, not using copyrighted images) is still rather up in the air. If he provides the original licenses and source code or tells the users how to access the source code he might well be in the clear.

I think someone around here needs to purchase one of those CD's so that more actual investigation can be done instead of just wild speculation. Maybe I will go and do that. myself.

Please dont flame me !!!

Actually, this might help, I have put a double cd set on e-bay with my own custom app (windows only I am afraid). The app runs from cd, with a video window and text area. Link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... otohosting It clearly states that Blender is free and open source with a link to blender.org

I have only used my own Images although I have tried to generate interest by using a Dalek model (UK Sci-fi thing) and an x-wing model. If anybody would like to do a serious review I will send copies...

Roy.

that's a completly different thing. you are not trying to sell blender itself but associated content, and this is perfectly fine.

in fact selling blender itself even after rebranding is legal, but mispresenting things and try to cash others work by presenting it as own, like the other guy, even when not illegal, is just abusing credulity and ignorance of the buyers

So I'm not going to see this as theft.
Well, I'm with you on the whole music side of things but what he is doing is equivalent to me taking that music and selling it on ebay for profit. The only difference is that he obtained the software legally.

Come again? that's called capitalism. Sell stuff for the price that people want to pay for it, not for what it cost to make. Very common in,... on,... euh,... the world.
You're right it does go on all over the place. I just think of those poor orphans who are whipped and beaten to make great products for greedy Westerners though. Rumour has it that the real Blender development team is comprised of such orphans and it breaks my heart.

He said call it luxairyoxity. I like the subliminal messaging in there too oxman.

That's even better than what I said. I was going to charge half price but yeah if you said it was free, then that might kill his market. It might be hard reaching enough people though.
