DOS error window on starting Blender

Post by amanda » Fri Nov 25, 2005 1:14 pm

I have downloaded Blender 2.37a for Windows XP. Each time I open the package, I get a DOS window which states the following:
---------------------------------
Using Python version 2.3
'import site' failed; use -v for traceback
No installed Python found
Only built-in modules are available. Some scripts may not run.
Continuing happily.
----------------------------------

If I close the window, Blender closes also.

Any ideas please?

That is supposed to happen. The 'DOS-window' is used for debug and info printouts (like wich frame Blender is rendering at the moment for example). It can not be closed without closing Blender. The console window is your friend, not your foe ;).

You can ignore the error except if you use advanced python scripts that need you too install the Python runtime environment (if you are not sure, you don't need it, believe me).

Otherwise, just do as told: continue happily! :D
