Roadmap

Post by pixelpixie »

Dear all,

I hope this is the right place to ask ;-)

I use blender for a scientific research project where we could need the 2.42 feature for cars.
I tried the preview of 2.42 and it works stable for me - but it is windows only (which is no problem now as development is done on windows, but the final result will have to be run on linux or mac os x).

As I have to decide if we use 2.41 or 2.42 I would like to know a release timeframe where the "official" 2.42 can be expected.

Best regards

Hi,

I think mid may is the current plan. There are testing builds for OS X and linux as well in the testing forums (and those are the primary development platforms hence it usually is more stable on linux and OS X than windows...).

Hmmm.... are you asking when 2.42 will be out or when Erwin's Game Engine Verhicle work will be incorporated in an 'official' build? As Erwin's work is just in his personal builds, those might be different things...

Reformulating the question

Post by pixelpixie »

I thought that the vehicle extention is official part of 2.42 - if it is not the question is when the vehicle-stuff will be in an "official" release and when will this release be available?.
THX for the replies!

UglyMike,

I'm pretty sure that Erwin has been committing the code as he goes and it will be part of the 2.42 release.

There have been already Vehicle Physics related commits to CVS by Erwin, see this commit log and others. I don't know to what extent it is now enabled though, or at what level this works currently.
