Parent Lockup...

Post by geemy »

Hello,
I'm rather new to Blender ( and any 3D Modeling program for that matter ) so I'm not sure if this is the place to ask. But I have been going through alot of tutorials and I'm up to the point where I am trying to teach myself some of the animation tools.
I watched Greybeards tutorial on basic animation, and am trying to Parent my camera to my object as described. However, whenever I push the "P' key to parent, Blender locks up on me indefinately. I CTL-ALT-DEL to bring up the performance tab on the task manager and it shows Blender using 100% of my CPU. I also tested this with the basic cube on startup and am getting the same result. No error messages or crashes, just seems to lock up.
Can anyone help me or tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Thank you for your time and assistance.

System Specs:

1.00 GB PC2700

nVidia GeForce FX 5200

Blender 2.41

[p] starts the blender game engine; in order to get out of it, just press [esc] and blender should function normally.

theres no need to feel dumb, just read a little more carefully

and i suggest (as Caronte did) to go to elYsiun as a user for your questions, as this is a developer forum

Kind Regards,

Thanks for the info :D
sorry for posting it here, I really didnt think the problem was user related. I figured the problem was going to be something like:
"Well you have a crappy computer and OS, so open python script and change line 233 to :
/scrpit StopCrashingThisMansCrappyComputer
anyways, thx for your help again, I'll head over to the Elysuin boards now like a good boy.
:)
