Blender toolbox change

Post by lisabeeren » Sat Jun 03, 2006 2:19 am

I'm writing a document on ui design for my workplace, and one of the topics has been the design of menus. I remember using the old 2.2 (?) blender's, and them having that spacebar-invoked menu... (called toolbox, I'm led to believe) which came up with a vertical list. Once you selected an item from the list, the list would be replaced with the subitems.

This is different from the some what radial (?) approach of the current toolbox. (I think I liked the old one _heaps_ better incidentally)

Anyhow, I've been looking for the discussions, and the references, etc. that led to this change. I've found these: ... 403.0.html

(which is where I found at the toolbox was called the toolbox)
But they don't seem to discuss the toolbox change. If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated.

with thanks

while I dont know anything about this design change, if I were looking I'd check out the mailinglist archives, specifically bf-committers and bf-blender-cvs.

though it doesnt look like there is a search function, so check out what google says: ... s/+toolbox

and the wiki:

hope this helps :)

There are three toolboxs, the very old one can only be activated via code I think, the other two can be changed via preferences.
