Maya to Blender - Bump Mapping

Post by Grumlaut »

For use in my game I have exported a model from Maya as a .obj that has bump mapping all sorted out (by our artist, not by me) but when it is used in Blender the bump mapping just doesn't work, will out artist have to set up bump mapping in blender or is there a better way of getting it from Maya?

As far as I know, the obj wavefront file format supports basic material attributes like diffuse or specular color. I'm not sure if it supports more complex stuff e.g. bump mapping.

Anyhow, applying a bump map to a mesh is a very easy task in Blender. The Manual explains this process in detail http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Manua ... ormal_Maps.

If you have questions about the use of Blender and not about its development it is, generally speaking, better to ask them at the official user forum http://blenderartists.org/forum/, because this forum is the developer forum
