Cycles good for still-life style renderings

Post by cacartist »

I've been messing around with Cycles. It's a really nice rendering engine, if you want to do still-life type of art renderings. It renders glass objects very well and has more photo-realistic touch. But for animations, especially character animations, it's not all that great.
One of the major draw-backs is that it uses nodes for materials than the uv type material/texture that the blender internal renderer uses. Nodes can be more technical in nature than what a typical artist would use.
But, all in all, Cycles is still in the process of improvement and it would be nice if they would make it more artist-friendly and have it use even the blender type of material/texture formats as well as nodes.
