The question is: why didn't my rendered texture apply settings from uv editor?

I've had the same problem before.
I've found that using Material view instead of Textured
seems to give a more accurate representation of what
the render will look like and how the texture is mapping.

Also, if you really need textured view, select you image texture node
and go to the texture panel. You can adjust the mapping from there
and it should display and update correctly in textured view.
Textured view doesn't pick up nodes like the mapping node
properly (if at all).
