Feature request: Colored alpha

Post by Usagi »

At the moment it seems to be impossible to create descent red wine and the like in Blender's internal renderer because at present a material can not be transparent and colored at the same time. With more transparency (alpha closer to zero) the color becomes more an more washed out.

I'd like to have an option to make a material that is like a color filter in photography.

Or did I overlook something and this is already possible?

Enabling "Ray Transp" should do the trick. Go to the materials panel, then "Mirror Transp" tab. You will find "Ray Transp" half-way down the right-side of that sub-panel. Then use the "Fresnel" slider to adjust the level of transparency, and the "IOR" slider to control the index of refraction.

I already tried that. It doesn't produce the desired effect.

I agree with you, we need a Transp Color or something like that. Currently, we are not able to render the transp color (or the Material Color) as Yafray does with Ray Transp and Alpha set to 0. Would be a nice feature...
