Blender material building proposal

Post by pildanovak »

i've written a proposal how could be some more features incorporated in the blender materials>

http://server.ffa.vutbr.cz/~novak/tutor ... lProposal/

so let's see if anybody(maybe of the developers) thinks this could be useful.

Node Based Materials are a great idea!

Hi,

I think (though correct me if I'm wrong) you are basically asking for node based materials -- or a simpler version of them. A system where you can give input to each channel so you can change the percentages and strengths of each texture. If I'm right, that's called node-based texturing and some people are already talking about it (or were :( ). It seems they stopped because they thought it would be incredibly difficult (and I don't blame them). You can see their progress on the wiki

Yes the wiki text is about node-based rendering, but in the meaning of integration of crafter, an external utility.

My idea is how to extend the existing material system(which already is very good with it's procedural and plugin textures), to make it node based.

As it seems to me, this thread is about the visual side of node-based programing?

in some sense, blenders materials ARE already node-based- eg in the disterted noise texture, you can plug any other noise types as inputs.
