Problems with Toon Shader

This was posted in Elysiun....

Here is test one, a test scene I used to try out some settings with the toon shader:

Shadows ON, RayMir ON at .25, and toon diff size at 1.2

This one, the two left spheres have a toon diff size at 3.14, toon spec size at 1 and spec level at .0260, as @ner's tutorial has it. The right sphere is the same as above, instead with all spec turned off

Shadows OFF, RayMir ON at .25

This one is the same as above, but this time with Shadows ON:

The shadows on the two left spheres have a jagged edge to them.
If reflections are turned off, and shadows left on, the same effect will occur.

(The spheres are smoothed UVspheres at the default settings)

If this matters, i'm using Blender 2.36 on SuSE Linux 9.2, but I got the same results using Windows.

Is this a bug?
