yafray without xml = blender crash -

Post by fakeplasticdreams » Tue Sep 27, 2005 7:40 am

I am just recently getting a crash when I try to render to yafray without the xml file. I have recently updgraded to X.org and KDE 3.4.2 so I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.

Here is the output I get:

Code: Select all

Starting scene conversion.
Scene conversion done.
Loading plugins ...
Registered arealight
Registered basicblocks
Registered basicshaders
Registered blendershaders
Registered globalphotonlight
Registered HDRI background
Registered hemilight
Registered mix block
Registered pathlight
Registered photonlight
Registered pointlight
Registered Shader Background
Registered softlight
Registered spherelight
Registered spotlight
Registered sss
Registered sunlight
Registered sunsky
dlerror: /usr/local/lib/yafray/.sconsign: invalid ELF header
YafRay plugin loaded
Image initialized
Zbuffer initialized
Segmentation fault
I have asked in the Yafray forums, but havn't yet got a reply. But it seems to be the yafray export, which may have more to do with blender so I am posting here.

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks

That is a really odd error to come from a YafRay executable, since it is an administrative file that is generated by the SCons build system...

Make sure that you have Blender and YafRay built by the same compiler

Well, I build both on the same system.

It had been working great, until just now.

When I first installed Yafray from the deb package, I was having trouble with the the XML render, but then I built it from the source and both xml and direct rendering worked.

But since I have been updgrading, I have not been to get the non-XML option to work. XML works great.

When I get some more time, I will try to mess around with it some more.

Update:

I recompile yafray, but still get a seg fault.

I have deleted the .sconsign file (as directed in a yafray installation how-to) and I no longer get the invalid ELF header, so it seems that the crash had nothing to do with that.

Does anybody have any ideas on how I can diagnose this further?

Thanks

Ok, well, I found out that is it only with 2.37a that I get the crash. It works with the CVS build and the Tuhopuu build I have. It is strange though, because it used to work fine. Oh well.

It may be becuase I didn't build 2.37a myseld, but used the pre-compiled download.

Anyways, as long as it works in CVS then I am happy.

Thanks
