"Parent To Vertex" doesn't work with deformed mesh

Let's say you have a character running in the game engine. A warrior for example. Typical accessories include:

(A) hair on his/her head that is soft body controlled.
(B) a chain connected to her/his belt loops
(C) a cape

I'm sure I could think of more examples but what disabled the possibility of all of these things is the fact that rigid body pins have to be parented to an object. In the game engine, objects can be parented to a vertex, but if that vertex is deformed by an armature or shape action, the transformation is ignored.

As a quick fix, I think I'm going to have to try to model geometry that keeps my soft bodies in place, but there's certainly no guarantee that they'll stick.

Has anyone else encountered this issue?
