Rotating away from face normal

Hey, so I'm working on something, and I need a way to rotate an object away from a face normal. This method needs to be done in Python, so I can't use the built-in RotFH button (I think that's what it's used for). Now, I can see the face normal info through an object's raycast function, but I can't directly rotate the object through the face normal, as I believe the three numbers are the sine values of the rotation. How would I rotate the object away from the face normal (so that it faces outwards)?
