Working with 3D models on a poly budget, need help!

So I've worked with blender a fair amount (ish) but I've never had to work on a poly budget, and now for a game I do.

Questions I have: in blender how do I bring up my "triangles" view when working on a mesh?

I have a model, and all of the faces look nice and clean etc. but when I upload it to the game engine (in this case Unity) and I look at the topography its all wonky and messed up.

You might try recalculating the normals.
