Blender Open Source

Post by woodygoody » Tue Sep 10, 2013 7:09 pm

Hi ..
i know there are many 3d game engines like UDK, CryEngine, Unity ..etc ready for game development, but we want -- as small team -- make our custom 3d Game Engine, but without start from scratch, so we want our game engine based on other open source 3d game engine, so we have some questions:

1-- is Blender fully free open source game engine ?
2-- can use Blender for any purpose even commercial ?
3-- making our game engine based on Blender game engine is good idea than based on Ogre, Irrlicht or Panda3D ?
4-- IMPORTANT:: Can program with C++ ?

Regrads ..

1. the game engine is not entirely free or under a permissive license like MIT or FreeBSD, better be careful!

2. the content will be yours, you can use it for commercial products without fees.

4. Parts of blender / game engine are already C++, others are C. So generally not a problem
I'm sitting, waiting, wishing, building Blender in superstition...
