about falling through

Post by verence » Thu May 06, 2004 3:51 pm

hm, quite funny, my actor falls through the ground every second time the game is started. quite simple setup: just a cube and a plane.

I can't believe you beat me to the post.
I just notice the same bug 5 mins ago.

Everyone knows about these issues ;)

It seems to vary in how many restarts it takes based on computer and which build, (some of the earlier testing builds seemed to take longer) so it might have something to do with compiler optomizations. I'm not sure if it has the same problem on linux, are either of you on linux?

Well, I knew about falling though the floor because it happens every 5 mins but I didn't put the two together to figure out it was a repeating number of times. just trying to help out.

Right this second, I am on a Win32 machine(2KPRO), but also have the same problem in OS X (10.2.8) although I haven't counted the number or times before the actor falls throught the floor.

Ok, so it's not just a windows issue.

Just in case you wanted to know, I tried the exact same file on my OS X machine. The actor falls through the floor, but not at a predictable interval. Three, Four or Five tries before it happens sometimes and it make no difference if the mesh had a material or not.

Thanks for listening,

I thought I solved the problem but it came back...
And I still can't find any solution, even in other forums...
This is really despairing, the game engine becomes totally useless when this collision problem happens...I did a whole game level for a game that won't work !!
I installed Blender because of the game engine, because I always dreamed to make a game on my own...but I'm gonna quit soon and wait for a non-bugged version...It's impossible to make a game when you go through the ground ans walls...
