OK, stupid question...

what are the units for the physics engine, are the metric(N, Kg, m) or something else?

they are meters [blender unit], and kilograms [force]... the usual

sort of, mass is very relative and damping is really something that doesn't exist in the real world. Also, blender is really inaccurate, just tweak until you have things correct.
