Blender, COLLADA, physics, and Multiverse

Post by Shack Dougall »

Hope this is the right forum. :)

Multiverse (http://www.multiverse.net) released the first open beta of their MMOG engine this week and I've been searching for information about how to use Blender with it.

More specifically, I'm looking for a Blender workflow that will allow me to create collision volumes in Blender and export the model to COLLADA format, so that I can then import it into the Multiverse asset repository as described here: http://update.multiverse.net/wiki/index ... on_Volumes
and
http://www.multiverse.net/developer/new ... ech_corner

So far, I've found the Collada 1.4.0 Plugin for Blender: http://colladablender.illusoft.com/ which appears to have at least some physics support.

and the game engine has support for physical properties which appears to be driven by the Bullet physics library: http://www.continuousphysics.com/mediaw ... in_Blender

And I've started playing around with some of the physics demos ( http://www.continuousphysics.com/ftp/pu ... view34.zip ) and can clearly see the Logic panel with the types of physical properties that I'm interested in.

But I'm having a really hard time bringing it together. For example, I haven't found documentation which describes how to use the Logic panel to create collision volumes and it's not immediately obvious to me.

Any pointers to tools, documention or any other helpful hints would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

no this forum is for asking questions on working with the code of gameblender
a much better place to ask a question related to using blender would be at blenderartists.org

http://blenderartists.org/forum/

or more specifically here

http://blenderartists.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=11

which deals with plugins in blender, since you dont want gameblender but
a plugin that will
create collision volumes in Blender and export the model to COLLADA format

hope that points you to the right direction and that you get the help you need.

Thanks for the pointer!

I really am grateful for the help, but have to say that the name and description of the forum is very confusing to someone coming in from the outside. It suggests that the scope of the forum is much broader than it really is.

Just thought I'd through that out and thanks again!
