half baked question

Post by lostguru »

alright, I been using blender for a while and last night i ran a large bake of some fluid sims. Got back in the morning, checked it out looked at the frames and quit blender. F***!, I didn't !SAVE! the blend file. So now I have a gig and a quarter of fluidsimdata and a blend file that doesn't know it exists. HELP. How do I import my fluid sim data so that I can render the animation without having to rebake the entire thing. There must be a way to make blender see that I have already baked the animation right?

any help is vastly appreciated

I would try and open the file again, and then use the "File: recover last sesion" command.

Good luck

I'll email Nils, he can probably tell you how and it would be good to have on the wiki...

Hi,

yes, that's possible - just create a new domain, and click on the file selection button at the bottom of the BAKE etc. options panel (the output directory one). Then choose one of the fluidsurface .bobj.gz files that were generated, and you should be able to view your simulation.

Regards,
-> Nils
