Rigging and Animating bipeds

Post by cacartist »

One of the hardest things to find on-line is how to construct, setup and pose CG animal skeletal rigging.
There is absolutely nothing for Blender. Only for the usual simple biped, Ludwig or Candy Man rigs.
I've been bashing my brains in trying to modify the Ludwig model from Tony Mullen's book "Introducing Character Animation With Blender" with obscured to bad results. Mostly in rigging the four legs.
It would be great to have a professional put out a tutorial on how to rig a quadratic animal in blender.
Right now, I'm kind of stuck with just moving the leg bones one at a time, which would be tedious!

blendercookie.com just released a tutorial for rigging a quadruped (dragon). I find the big challenges however are in animating rather than rigging.

Good Luck
