Face Colour Animation (Edit Mode)

Post by lush » Wed Oct 12, 2011 8:04 pm

I've looked everywhere but I haven't found anything on this topic. I'm not interested in the object changing colour as a whole....

What I am interested in is a few select faces being able to change colour multiple times during the animation.

I.e. Face 1 = Red at 0 sec
Face 1 = Green at 5 sec
Face 1 = Blue at 10 sec

All other faces remain constant colour

It would be preferable if there was zero/little fade time between colours and if it could be used easily in conjunction with the Shape Keys.

A step by step instruction would be perfect.

Thankyou for your time and help

Step 1:
Add a material to your object.

Step 2:
Now go into editmode. And add another material to the object while still in editmode.Modify this material to your wish.Anyways you may not see this material affecting the properties of object as a whole

Step 3:
Now choose the faces which you want to animate the color change. With the newly added material selected, choose <assign> option right below the material stack/list.This will assign the selected material to the selected faces.

You can ofcourse repeat this any number of time.

step 4:
Animate the diffuse color of material that corresponds to the chosen faces.
