I'm not sure if this is an intended function but if you have several actions, why does the start and end frame not match up per action?
For instance, my 'walk' animation is frame 1 to 29, then I switch to my 'run' action, and it's 1 to 39, but the end frame will stay at 29, I have to manually change it back to preview the animation.
It's not a problem, it's just an annoying quirk I guess, because I just have to change the end frame all the time when I cycle through animations.
