Hundereds of ways of doing it.
Better start reading the manual?

Okay, I'll name a few:
Move the object away in one frame.
Scale the object to size 0.001 in one frame
Color the Transparancy of your object to 100% transparant within some frames.
Move the object to another layer with an IPO.
Move an empty from top to bottom besides your disapearing object and use that as an imap on the disapearings object materials alpha channel.

My favourite way:

Do it during compositing, this gives you the most control over the whole animation.

Always remember: do as much as you can in compositing, never try to render a complex animation in one piece. This gives you a whole lot more control over the final result.

The easiest way is to move the object to another layer.

First record the initial layer of the object with I Key, then Layer
Move to the next frame.
Press M Key to move the object to another layer (not visible)
Record with I / Layer.
(sorry for my poor english, I'm french)
